Bedtime Conversation

Tonight Nathan and I read a Lady and the Tramp story in one of his Disney books. At the end of the story, there was a picture of Lady and Tramp with their four puppies (see left). The gist of the conversation went something like this:

Nathan: "It's weird that they show a puppy next to the Daddy dog because boys can't have babies."

Me: "Well, Lady had all the puppies, but they put the one that looks like the Daddy next to him and the ones that look like Lady next to her. In real life, it doesn't work that way. If two different-looking dogs have puppies, all the puppies look like a mixture of the two dogs."

Nathan: "So, one dog can have a puppy that looks like it."

Me: "No, it always takes two dogs to have puppies. Just like it takes two people to have kids."

Nathan: "Yeah, you wouldn't be able to take care of us by yourself."

Me: "That's right."

Nathan: "Because you don't know how to use the grill (barbecue)."

You got that right, Nathan!
