Walmart Awkwardness

I promise, really promise to write some words/post some pictures about the Christmas holidays, but had to share a funny story that happened today at Walmart. The boys and I were in the middle of a shopping trip to a bunch of stores--a trip that was going south fast, a trip that had me yelling things like "Stop it! Don't touch him! Keep four feet behind the shopping cart and don't look at your brother!" It wasn't pretty.

Anyway, as we were checking out at Walmart, the kindly older checker was giving the boys lots of attention. The conversation went like this:

Checker: "What's your name?"

Evan: "Eban."

Nathan: "My name's Nathan!"

Checker: "Ooh, and who is that?"

Evan: "That's Mommy."

Nathan: "Her name's Kristin."

Checker: "And what's your daddy's name?"

Nathan: "We don't have a daddy."

Checker: *embarrassed, pats Evan on the head*

Me: "Yes they do! He's at home," I shriek frantically as my face turns beet red.

We leave Walmart.

Me: "Nathan, why did you say such a thing?"

Nathan: "I thought she asked, 'What's your doggy's name?' We don't have a doggy."

This was some good comic relief from one of "those" trips into the outside world.
