That was the sound of me crawling out from under Christmas. Yeah, I've been totally MIA on here for over three weeks. I'm sure you've all been waiting with baited breath for my return. The holidays were a mixture of so many sights, sounds, events and feelings, as they always are, but here are a few highlights:
- "Pajama Christmas" at the Kevin and Cindy's house: Aunt Joene's exquisite wrapping, overflowing stockings, two sweet pooches, Cindy's famous punch, and my terrible pasta salad.
- Brendan's "world famous" chocolate chip cookies, which he made on Christmas Eve with Nathan's help.
- Christmas morning in our living room: toys, wrapping paper, boxes, stockings everywhere! There were two very happy little boys, and somewhere out there, Santa must have been enjoying his extra large cookie.
- My mom and dad's annual Christmas bonanza at their house: the food was to-die-for (ham, zucchini casserole, potatoes, jello salad, four kinds of dessert), the company divine (we had the pleasure of having our good friends Sharon and Erin join us), the children joyful (Nathan and Gavin ruled the roost...at least for one more year until Vera and Evan catch up with them), and the music festive (the usual Christmas carols were "enhanced" by Nathan and Gavin's drum and bell-playing).
- "Cabin Christmas" at my parents' hideaway in Tehachapi, where we welcomed in the New Year: just enough snow to go sledding, free-flowing hot chocolate, lots of fresh air, gifts galore, plenty of prickly pinecones, and--if you weren't looking--a snowball, or four, tossed at your rear.
- San Diego getaway: Nathan and Brendan headed to San Diego last weekend, along with the rest of the extended Conrad family, to celebrate Brendan's sister Shelley's 30th birthday, visit the San Diego Zoo, and attend a Chargers/Redskins football game. Perfect weather, great company, outstanding sights, one not-so-happy gorilla.
Yep, that about sums it up. :D

The joy and surprise on the faces of both of my boys on Christmas morning will be etched in my mind forever.
Well, it sounds like you were really busy! Glad you had a lovely holiday! The photos are adorable. Nathan is such a little gentleman. Happy New Year my friend!
